"Blood is thicker than water, I know, but it's unnatural stuff to drink so much of," is a quote from the play "The Wife Of Ted Wickham." The play is about a woman who falls in love with a man who has been married for twenty years and has three children. She divorces her husband and marries Ted Wickham, who is also divorced. After she marries Ted she learns that he too has been married before. He tells her that he stopped speaking to his first wife after he discovered she had been unfaithful to him with his best friend.

The woman is shocked but continues the affair. Eventually the couple have two children, but then the woman learns that Ted had also cheated on his wife with his best friend's wife. She tells him no more and leaves him.
